INTRO

Every year, world is becoming warmer and we are facing more danger towards an uncertainty. We need to act soon, we need to come together and stand for not just ourselves but to those thriving in a world as beautiful lying underwater.

Maldives, a pristine destination famous for its tropical climate along with crystal clear water and white sandy beach is known among the world for its beautiful underwater ecosystem. Our environment consists of a delicate and complex series of coral reefs, that are unique to the tropical world. Whilst more than 1.4 million people have found it a pleasure to gaze upon our tiny island nation every year, tourism, socio-economic development and the fast-growing population has largely avoided creating the needed advocacy for the effects of Climate Change to Maldives.

2014 was a turning point year for the world as it was the worst coral bleaching events on record, that impacted the reefs all around the world and in 2016, a strong El Niño, a cyclical weather event that takes place every few years resulting in warmer waters passing through the Pacific and Indian Ocean had resulted in a death of many corals reefs in Maldives.

Fluorescent animals create stacking, branching, ecosystems in vivid purples, yellows, pinks, blues, greens, and sometimes a fiery red. There is so much diversity of aquatic life in our underwater ecosystems. How could a human element possibly improve the transcendent experience of our underworld art gallery?

With White Fire, we would create a platform creating advocacy and awareness on coral bleaching, climate change and it’s the threats to coral reefs, raise awareness and advocate for establishing marine protected areas to safeguard coral ecosystems across the Maldives.
